Most gals these days have ditched shopping at the mall. Who has money to keep wasting on ridiculously overpriced materials that’ll just sit in your closet for months and months on out?
Ok, maybe once in a while I do waste money on ridiculously overpriced materials. But all the time, though? Hell no. Not I. Not us.
So what do we do? Save our pennies for thrift’n.
Before one judge (especially the Mr.), let me just confirm your thoughts. Yes, the goodies are worn. Yes, the goodies are sometimes battered and a tad bit raggedly. And YES, they are from decades ago. But, so what!!!! They’re unique and one of kind pieces that just need a little tender love and caring.
And Me, my BFF, Val/fellow blogger of http://www.valenciasgarden.com /thrift queen, and our furry best friends, Skye and Tay, love to go thrift’n. We finally made time to go together at Eastern Market, DC’s Original and Premiere Food and Art Market.
The plan was to go thrift’n for furniture pieces for our new homes and spend some quality sister to sister and doggie to doggie time. Clothes and accessories were no where in the plan, at least not initially.
Since we couldn’t find any pieces to match our bohemian glam inspired homes, we decided to focus our attention on other things.
Val, snatched up some classic Timberlands and couldn’t keep her fingers off her favorite accessory, hats.
She even tried to get me to purchase a hat for a tea party we’ll be attending in a few weeks.

Me, on the other end, I couldn’t find anything at the market. The one vintage desk I really wanted, a lady and her daughter guarded it like pitbulls. I didn’t think to put my paws on it. I left it right where it was…in the hands of its future owners.
Meanwhile, our furry BFFs had a great time enjoying the compliments and the adventure.
“She’s so cute.”
“Aww! Is that a Pomeranian?”
“Adorable.”
“What a cute pet? I want that dog.”
Thrifters from every angle were admiring our dogs.
Tay could care less about the attention. Like her mommy, Skye loved all of the attention. She just wagged her tail, smiled, and posed for every head rub or picture.

Val and I love thrift’n. It was good to know that our BFF’s loved it too. We’ll be back soon, that’s for sure.
