Like many dogs, Skye enjoys playing. She has a handful of her favorite toys that she whips around, toss in the air, chase, and nibble on. Skye can play with them independently or with you. I think she prefers playing with others more or so alone. So whenever Skye demands a playmate and I’m not quite in the mood, I make sure to work the hell out of her so that she’s too tired to do anything else.

Here’s my secret code:
- Play Fetch. We play fetch with her childhood toy, TURTLE.
- Tug of War is surely to do the trick.
- Nature Walks/Jogs. This may be her second favorite thing to do because she gets to explore nature and pee on everything that has a male scent. So annoying sometimes.
- Believe it or not, she loves to be tickled. At first, I didn’t think so because she would nibble on my knuckles. But that’s just her way of expressing “Ma, stop! No! Please don’t stop. This is so much funnnn.”
-
And before you know it, she yawns and taps out.
This is a frequent routine for us. Not only am I outsmarting her, I’m providing an outlet for her to release buildup energy. Besides, I would much rather have her release her energy during structured play than have her become too curious and mischievous that she gets into something she has no business in, like my closet chewing up my shoes. Yeah, I had to learn the hard way.
Therefore, I would recommend playing with your pet. Show them some love and give them that deserving attention. Enjoy their company while building a bond. And never forget, an active pet creates a healthy and happy friend.
Try it.
