30 Notes Before 30 | April 10, 2016

the media has corrupted the minds of foreigners about colored neighborhoods in chicago. where there is violence doesn’t mean there’s a lack of love. the boarded windows next door to the high rise on the south side lives a family that speaks multiple languages. welcomed in their home, i’ve slightly made meaning to their phrases from their native tongue. pilsen-a neighborhood of predominantly hispanic, takes pride in their heritage. murals of artwork, festivals, and locally owned businesses fills the streets. it’s probably one of the beautifully created neighborhoods that hasn’t gone through gentrification. they believe in conserving their history. i haven’t witnessed the world news covering these stories. don’t judge the entire population. respect the people.
[These are my open notes that I’ve hidden from the world. Over the next month, I am making them public until my birthday on April 14th.]
