It was a Friday and we were brainstorming free events for the evening. “Do y’all want to go to the Truckaroo (a food truck festival)?” I asked. My sister quickly reminded me that if it wasn’t free then it wasn’t for us—So that thought was quickly dismissed. The moment we figured that we had exerted all possibilities, Kailahse, the self-proclaimed “Beauty Guru,” had an idea. “We can pamper ourselves tonight. I found this DUI project for us….”
My eyebrows arched and I peaked at her through my rearview mirror and asked “D..U..I-Driving Under Influence project? or D…I…Y-Do It Your Self project?” We all laughed while Kailhase giggled and said, “You know what I mean. Yes, I have a D…I…Y project we can do. It’s an Avocado Face Mask. I have the ingredients. And reviews say it will give you a summer glow.”
The minute she said “summer glow” my ears were locked and tuned in. “It also helps to eliminate wrinkles. It hydrates and cleanses your skin.” She went on to say.
“Ok, let’s do it.”
So that evening, we had a free and homemade girls’ pampering night led by my 17-year-old niece, Kailahse.
1 whole avocado
2 tablespoons of honey
1 tablespoon of virgin oil
(You can add more oil or honey depending on how thin you want your mask to be)
Next, she blended all of the ingredients together before applying the mask to our freshly washed face.

Then, the mask soaked into our pores for 20 minutes.

Finally, we washed it off with warm water and applied a moisturizer.
“Girl, let me see if I got a glow!” I smiled and teased.
